A confidential immersion into the world of Armagnac
As Fest’Armagnac approaches, we invite you to a confidential evening in the private screening room of Hôtel Burdigala, dedicated to one of France’s oldest spirits: Armagnac.
Ahead of the March 7th event at the Grande Poste de Bordeaux, this masterclass offers a privileged interlude to explore the world of Armagnac in an intimate setting. The deliberately limited format encourages meaningful exchanges, discovery, and a deeper understanding of the art of tasting.
Maison Dartigalongue: family expertise since 1838
The tasting will spotlight Maison Dartigalongue, a family-owned house founded in 1838 in Nogaro. For nearly two centuries, the family has aged and blended Armagnacs according to an artisanal savoir-faire passed down from generation to generation.
During this confidential masterclass, four emblematic belnds will be tasted: Réserve, XO, Héritage and the 1992 vintage. Each reveals a different facet of ageing, blending, and the aromatic complexity that defines Armagnac.
Gastronomic pairings designed to elevate each expression
The evening will begin with an Armagnac-based cocktail created by Vincent, our Head Bartender, offering a true aromatic introduction to the experience. Each tasting will then be accompanied by a carefully crafted food pairing:
- Pairing 1 – Réserve: Pan-seared foie gras escalope, pears
- Pairing 2 – XO: Sirloin steak, smoked meat jus, carrots
- Pairing 3 – Héritage: Scallops, bard cream, parsnip mousseline, finger lime
- Pairing 4 – 1992: Flambéed banana “bonbon style,” gavotte biscuit, liquid caramel
This gastronomic approach reveals the full richness and aromatic depth of each Armagnac.
Meet passionate experts
The masterclass will be led by Benoît Hillion, Director of Armagnacs Dartigalongue, and Michaël Illouz, founder of Fest’Armagnac and Armagnac Educator.
Their insights will shed light on production methods, the role of cask ageing, the subtleties between blends and vintages, and the keys to expert tasting. In this confidential setting, each participant will have the opportunity to ask questions and deepen their knowledge.
Practical information
The experience is priced at €50 per person. This includes the welcome cocktail and the four food & Armagnac pairings. As places are intentionally limited to preserve the confidential nature of the event, booking is essential.
